Empowering People in the Workplace (EPW) training sessions and workshops (https://ipositivelinc.com/corporate-leadership-workshops/) are based on the teachings of Dr. Alfred Adler and Positive Discipline, founded in the 1980’s by Dr. Jane Nelsen and Lynn Lott.  It allows each participant to become self-aware of the consequences of his or her way of relating with their environment.

EPW offer concrete tools with experiential activities that encourage participants to test them in their daily practice. Many of the key concepts are confirmed from recent findings in brain science.

The tools proposed are, for the most part, simple to understand and demands a certain change in the mindset. It is a process that requires regular practice and therefore the trainer will accompany the participants in this learning process on a step by step basis, with reflection time, support of a workbook, tool cards, and relevant articles.

EPW training and development workshops facilitate the connection between feeling and intellect. It encourages diversity and collective intelligence. Participants are encouraged to decide which changes they want to implement, with a personal engagement to try and practice, in order to have concrete results on a long-term basis.

The overall objective of EPW:

  • Develop a sense of belonging and contribution which is key for high motivation and engagement in a team.
  • Develop a sense of mutual respect and encouragement that gives way to a sense of confidence (in oneself and in others).
  • Be effective over the long term to ‘anchor’ the new skill with a regular follow up.

What will you learn?

By the end of this workshop, learners will be able to facilitate over 24 activities on:

  • Preparing the ground for collaborative teamwork
  • Self-awareness and other awareness
  • Feelings and Emotions – using the heart-brain to connect
  • Kind & Firm communication – How to encourage behaviour change through Mutual Respect and Performance
  • Listening beyond words & what is active Listening
  • How to lead effective Team meetings and Feedbacks
  • Know your Leadership Style

and much more!

Learning Process

Each session will cover a new concept with experiential activities to practice. This program will follow Kolb’s model suggesting that all learning happens due to real-world experiences which then help people form mental models of that experience.

  • Concrete Experience with experiential activities and role-plays.
  • Reflective Observation with breakout activities and small group collaboration
  • Active Experimentation with readings and practice between sessions
  • Abstract Conceptualisation with Q&A Polling, breakout debriefing at the end of each activity.

Workshop Registrations: A full refund (minus a $35 processing fee) will be given when the request for a refund is made up to 30 days prior to the first day of a workshop. Refunds are not available for cancellations less than 30 days before a workshop. However, paid registrants can transfer to another workshop within one year at no additional cost. Refunds are not available after a transfer is made or if you do not provide advanced notice that you will not be attending the workshop.

In the event of cancellation, participants will be notified by email.

The training will be delivered online and on Zoom.  A quick training on the tool can be provided to the participant if requested.

Excited? Well, you’ll be even more after reading these testimonials from past participants!

“The program provided me with the opportunity to learn how to connect more and relate better to my employees, and provided me with tools to motivate them and help them be more effective”.  Paul Atang, CEO of Capital Care, Inc. in Silver Springs, MD

I was impressed by the quality of leadership offered by Jane and Dina and by the exceptional quality of my classmates. Every breakout group, every conversation brought great value. I have never had a better online learning experience and I’m deeply grateful for our time together. It’s a gift that will keep on giving”.  Scott Woolridge, Associate Regional Minister, Christian Church

“I’ve been managing people for over a decade, both large and small teams. After taking a class in Positive Discipline, I found myself naturally tailoring some of the principles and applying them at work without really trying. To my surprise, the cooperation, collaboration, and dedication of my team increased. So, when I found out about the EPW program I was thrilled. The workshop didn’t disappoint – the format was fun and engaging, the content was powerful, and the people in our cohort were wonderful. After the workshop, I developed some quick exercises

using the EPW materials that could be immediately implemented into my established team meetings. It was so successful that I now get asked to conduct the exercises to other peer groups. And this time, I’m not so surprised that my already highly collaborative team is that much more engaged, positive, and productive.   Farhana C., Sr. Vice President, Business Risk & Control Sr. Manager
